PROF MARK BURGMAN

Imperial College London

Mark is the Director of the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College London. He is interested in the representation and propagation on uncertainty, and on elicitation of expert judgment. He works on ecological modelling, conservation biology and risk assessment. His research has included models on a broad range of species and settings including marine fisheries, forestry, irrigation, electrical power utilities, mining, and national park planning.

DR RICHARD DE ROZARIO
University of Melbourne

Richard has held analytical roles for over 25 years in computing, operations and risk. He's currently a Melbourne Enterprise Fellow in the School of BioSciences at the University of Melbourne and a
co-leader of the SWARM Project. Previously, he has worked in a
wide variety of analytical and consulting roles across industry.
These roles included modelling of extreme operational risks, strategic planning of payment systems, testing of airspace simulation software and advanced schedule optimisation in IT, logistics and manufacturing. Richard studied computer information systems in the USA and holds a post-graduate diploma in Market Modelling from Swinburne University, as well as a PhD in Applied Ontology from the University of Melbourne.

DR TIM VAN GELDER

University of Melbourne

Tim is an applied epistemologist.  He's currently a Melbourne Enterprise Fellow in the School of BioSciences at the University of Melbourne and a co-leader of the SWARM Project.  He has an academic background in philosophy and cognitive science, but has ventured into consulting and software development. His work has focused on reasoning and decision making, with a particular attention on structured argumentation. This has from time to time led to interaction with diverse parts of the intelligence community.

PROF SIMON DENNIS

University of Melbourne

Professor Dennis is the Head of the School of Psychology. He holds qualifications in computer science, mathematics and psychology from the University of Queensland and his research expertise is in human memory and language processing. He is also involved in information retrieval and machine learning research.
